A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
I am a portrait photographer, mother and ardent communicator from London, England. I now live with my family in Chicago. I have been taking photographs since I was a teenager but really got into photography on an exchange year at Miami University in the 90s. Once back in the UK I worked for art directors, photographers, studios and agencies before embarking on my own career in 2000. My work has been featured in numerous magazines as well as for the BBC. In 2013 my portraits were exhibited at The National Portrait Gallery, a landmark art institution in London http://www.npg.org.uk and are now part of their permanent collection.

CHICAGO LIGHTS – an audio/visual exhibition celebrating 81 Chicagoans!
The concept of “Chicago Lights” was born in 2015 with my relocation to Chicago from London for my husband Leo’s job. With the kids off at school and Leo at work and my only companion my dog Skyla, I felt displaced and lonely. I turned to my camera as a way to meet people and found, often by chance, an eclectic and diverse range of subjects with a wonderful inner light and a common thread of integrity, compassion and empathy. This journey culminated in an audio/visual exhibition, which was shown at www.zhoubartcenter.com in Chicago. A selection of the photographs have now moved to The Roof Crop. www.roofcrop.com
The subjects in my show are a wide-ranging and impressive group of characters who contribute to the immense diversity, richness and originality of Chicago’s landscape. Among those photographed are Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, former Chicago Bear Israel Idonije, priest and social activist Father Michael Pfleger, acclaimed chef Curtis Duffy, rising singer Kiara Lanier, celebrity chef Jaime Laurita, and famed art brothers ShanZuo ZhouShi and DaHuang ZhouShi.
I interviewed each person I photographed and topics covered included everything from love, mothering, body issues, politics, gender, food, relationships, poverty, spirituality and everything in between. These sound excerpts can be heard at the show and also on soundcloud.
Weeva Publishing have recently turned Chicago Lights into a beautiful coffee table book. https://bookstore.weeva.com/products/chicago-lights
